Prediction: 30 Percent of Corporate Real Estate Portfolios will be Coworking or Flexible Space

In addition to leasing office space for their own employees to work in, firms will also lease space in coworking facilities in order to build ties with other firms and entrepreneurs. Many companies, including Microsoft, HSBC and Uber, are already leasing space in coworking facilities.

On JLL’s Real Views blog, Natasha Stokes notes that, “JLL predicts that 30 percent of corporate real estate portfolios will be dedicated to coworking or flexible space solutions.”

“Coworking isn’t just about the physical space, it’s about a social environment that encourages interactions and knowledge sharing,” according to Karen Williamson, the director of EMEA Research for JLL. She adds that leasing coworking space can help small companies as they test new markets and decide whether to expand, possibly into permanent facilities.
