NAIOP North Carolina Wins Chapter Merit Award

At the NAIOP Chapter Leadership and Legislative Retreat in Washington, DC, the three North Carolina chapters of NAIOP were awarded the Best Legislative / Government Affairs program for a small chapter based on our successful advocacy at the state level during a lengthy and controversial effort to overhaul the North Carolina Tax Code.

Through effective collaboration with one another, NAIOP’s three North Carolina chapters played a key role in ensuring the success of state Tax Reform, while simultaneously protecting the interests of commercial real estate developers and investors as the legislation was being drafted and negotiated.

NAIOP Charlotte presents Reorganizing North Carolina Economic Development

North Carolina Secretary of Commerce Sharon Decker headlined NAIOP Charlotte’s Reorganizing North Carolina Economic Development luncheon on Monday, March 3. Secretary Decker talked to an audience of commercial real estate professionals about the opportunities and goals for expanding economic development in North Carolina, and plans to boost growth.

NC secretary of commerce: Lack of building product a challenge for Charlotte

sharon-decker-304xx3744-5616-0-0One of Charlotte’s biggest economic development challenges is its lack of available building product, N.C. Secretary of Commerce Sharon Decker told an audience of commercial real estate professionals at an industry luncheon Monday.

“For Charlotte, it is product and readiness of product,” she said in response to a question. Decker was speaking at a lunch at the Center City Marriott hosted by the Charlotte chapter of NAIOP, a trade organization that represents industrial, office, retail and related commercial real estate.
